The three wellness classes offered in the Magruder Confernce Center, Zumba, Strength Training and Yoga, will not hold classes the week of December 23rd or the week of December 30th. All classes will resume the week of January 6th.
Magruder Hospital recently earned the recognition of Healthcare's Most Wired - Small & Rural based upon the results of a national survey conducted by Hospitals & Health Networks. This recognition puts Magruder among some of the top institutions in the country that have successfully implemented technology that improves patient documentation, advances clinical decision support and evidence-based protocols, reduces the likelihood of medication errors and rapidly restore access to data in the case of a disaster or outage.
The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council has partnered with Magruder Hospital to create an art gallery within the hospital which will display the creative pieces of various local artists. The "Healing Arts Gallery" was created with the intent of sharing the talents of local artists while giving patients, visitors and employees at Magruder, a visual experience.
Magruder Hospital was recognized by Donate Life Ohio, the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) and the Ohio Department of Health’s Second Chance Trust Fund for taking action to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registration. Magruder Hospital and 56 other Ohio hospitals were recognized during the 2013 OHA Annual Meeting in Columbus.
Magruder Hospital recently hired Ronald Weiner as Vice-President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He replaces Todd Almendinger, who was recently promoted to President & CEO of the hospital.
Magruder Hospital recently held its annual recognition event to honor employees, medical staff and board members for years of dedicated service through the end of 2012.
In a recent review of hospitals, Magruder Hospital stood again at the top for patients satisfied with their hospital care. Magruder ranks 30th in a report released by Becker's Hospital Review titled, "The Top 58 Hospitals Patients Rated 9 or 10 in HCAHPS." This report placed Magruder 30th in the country and among the highest-ranked, acute-care hospitals in Ohio.
Magruder Hospital's President & CEO, Todd Almendinger, announced that Nick Marsico, RPh, Director of Magruder's Pharmacy and Administrative Director, has been promoted to Vice President of Ancillary Services .
Magruder Hospital’s Laboratory Department was awarded re-accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on results of a recent on-site inspection. Lawrence Fanelly, DO, Medical Director of Magruder’s Laboratory, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the “excellence of services being provided.” Magruder’s Laboratory is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.
The Magruder Hospital Auxiliary’s 59th Annual Charity Ball will take patrons to a time of knights, kings, queens and fair maidens. On Saturday, February 23rd, the Catawba Island Club will be transformed into "A Medieval Knight."
