Ottawa County Community Health Assessment
Since 2001, Magruder Hospital and its many health partners have conducted community health assessments for measuring and addressing the health status of the Ottawa County community. We have chosen to assess Ottawa County as our community because this is where we, and those we serve, live and work.
Magruder Hospital along with the Ottawa County Community Health Partners have reviewed the health assessment report, developed action steps and begun implementing our Community Health Improvement Plan. Our priority areas and outcomes that we would like to improve include:
- Reduce heart disease
- Reduce pre-diabetes/diabetes
- Reduce obesity
- Reduce hypertension
- Increase pre-diabetes screening
Mental Health & Addiction
- Reduce depression
- Reduce suicide deaths
- Reduce prescription medication abuse
- Reduce unintentional drug overdose deaths
Access to Care
- Increase health insurance coverage
Magruder and all of the Ottawa County Community Health Partners view this assessment and plan as a living, breathing document that needs to represent the current state of our communities. To that end, we strive to routinely review the document to make sure the goals and strategies that we are implementing are relevant and impactful. Certainly, there is much work to be done in these and many other areas related to the health of Ottawa County. We are committed to continuing that work as a hospital and as a partner in the communities we serve.
