Magruder Auxiliary Awards Healthcare Scholarships to Area Students

The Magruder Auxiliary Scholarship Committee has announced scholarships totaling $8,600 given to students from high schools throughout Ottawa County for post-secondary programs in a variety of medical fields. Scholarship moneys come from three separate initiatives overseen by the Magruder Auxiliary Scholarship Committee.

Auxiliary Scholarship recipients each received $1,100. Port Clinton High School student recipients were Kennedy Adkins, Marcella Brenner, Lilliana Howell, Paeja Leow and Gabrielle Porter. The Danbury High School recipient was Alexander Frank.  The Magruder Auxiliary raises funds for this scholarship through a series of activities and events throughout the year.

The Mildred Schmitt Roy Trust provides scholarships to students entering the field of nursing. A Roy Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 was awarded to Paige Reineck from Port Clinton High School.

Dr. R.W. Minick Scholarships are designated to those choosing to pursue a career as a physician and are sponsored by the Medical Staff of Magruder.  This year’s scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Rebekah Nehls from Port Clinton High School.

The Auxiliary provides scholarships as a means of supporting opportunities for local students to become healthcare professionals. For more information about these scholarships or the Magruder Auxiliary, please contact Auxiliary and Volunteer Director Kathy Gallogly at 419-734-3131, ext, 3256.
