Magruder Receives Ohio Department of Development Grant for Energy Efficiency Projects
Magruder Hospital was recently notified that it was awarded a $1.7 million grant through the Ohio Department of Development
The funding comes from the latest round of the Advanced Energy Fund, which provides grants to help businesses, nonprofits, municipalities, and educational institutions complete projects designed to reduce energy usage and associated costs.
"What makes the Advanced Energy Fund so unique is it allows us to help organizations across all sectors stretch their dollars further," said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Department of Development. "Whether it's a school, nonprofit, or a local business, these upgrades mean real savings that can be redirected toward supporting the people and communities they serve."
Kelly Biggert, Director of Risk Management, Compliance, and Emergency Preparedness stated “We are thrilled to receive this grant that allows us to invest in energy efficiency projects that strengthen our hospital’s resilience and sustainability. This funding will help reduce operational costs and also support our commitment to providing a safe, reliable environment for patient care.”
Ten organizations across nine counties are receiving awards during this round of the grant. The funding Magruder received will be used to install chillers, complete upgrades to HVAC and building controls, install new lighting, and complete a roof replacement. The project is expected to yield an annual utility savings of 15.3 percent.
Delbert Hatt, Magruder Hospital Facilities Director said “This grant is a game-changer for us. We’ll be able to implement large-scale energy efficiency projects that will improve our facility, be better environmentally, and also lower operational costs.”
