Magruder Hospital Celebrates Career Advancement of Surgical Team Members

Magruder Hospital is proud to recognize two valued members of its surgical team, Stacey Nickloy and Hannah Genzman, who have advanced their careers as Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs).

Stacey Nickloy began her career at Magruder Hospital on October 2, 2000, as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) on the Medical-Surgical unit. Throughout her 20+ years of dedicated service, she has continued to grow within the organization, transitioning to a ward clerk role on Med-Surg before moving to the Surgery Department in 2016 as a ward clerk and surgery scheduler. On August 4, 2025, Stacey achieved a significant milestone by earning her Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.

Hannah Genzman joined Magruder Hospital in November 2024, initially working as an Operating Room Assistant (ORA) and Sterile Processing Technician. With a long-standing goal of becoming a Certified Surgical Technologist, Hannah completed a CST program which dovetailed with the program she had originally started in Cincinnati. She credits her success to the strong support of her family, coworkers, and mentors, including preceptors Rachel Wilkins and Brittany Adkins.

Certified Surgical Technologists play a vital role in the operating room, serving as key members of the surgical team. While they do not perform surgery, they are responsible for ensuring the environment is sterile, preparing instruments, and anticipating the needs of surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists throughout procedures. Their work is essential to maintaining patient safety, preventing infections, and ensuring surgeries run efficiently.

Magruder Hospital also recognizes the existing CST and Certified Surgical First Assistant staff, who were fully engaged in helping Stacey and Hannah complete their training.
