It’s Family Wellness Month, and the health and well-being of our families can mean a lot of different things. Depending on who you ask, there are around 8 dimensions of health: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, Vocational, Financial and Environmental. That can seem like a lot of things to manage, but every single area doesn’t need to be tackled all at once. Pick and choose a couple things, and just take one step in the right direction.
Just a quick look at Magruder’s most recent Wellness Calendar might prompt you to:
· make sure the adults and children in your family are up to date on their vaccines
· learn how to grill healthier
· sign up for some lab work to see what your numbers look like
· get some questions answered about Medicare insurance
· share information about LSVT Big & Loud to someone you know who might have Parkinson’s
· do a good deed if you need a little pick me up, like donating blood or volunteering, or maybe signing up for a trip
Taking just a small step in one of the many dimensions of health can have a positive impact on the health of our families. Come up with your own ideas for each dimension, toss them in a jar and pick one out each week, or whatever is manageable for you. Take this celebration of Family Wellness, and extend it out all year long.
