With the cold weather taking hold, luckily we don’t have to look too far to find things to keep us warm and healthy.

If you find oatmeal too bland, there are a variety of ways to switch it up to make it more exciting without diminishing it’s nutritional value:

  • Add some peanut butter or peanut butter alternative.
  • Try overnight oats (half cup of old fashioned oats, cover with whatever kind of milk you prefer, put some walnuts and blueberries on top and chill in the fridge overnight).
  • You can experiment with chia seeds, shredded coconut, dried fruit, a little drizzle of honey, or a few mini chocolate chips.

Soup can seem like a daunting item to make, but there are a multitude of recipes out there to guide you along, including https://www.delishknowledge.com/vegan-lemon-chickpea-orzo-soup/

And once you find a recipe or two that you like, feel free to experiment with different ingredients.

  • Add some spinach or kale at the end of the cooking process to ramp up the nutritional value.
  • Add some beans or frozen mixed vegetables (thaw or microwave them before you put them in).
