Magruder Hospital Auxiliary Installs Officers, Makes Donation at Annual Meeting

IMG_0179.jpgMagruder Hospital Auxiliary held its 2015 Meeting and Installation of officers on Monday, November 2, 2015 in the Conference Center of Magruder Hospital. President Kendra German presided over the noon luncheon meeting, catered by Magruder's own Fulton Street Cafe.

Past Presidents Michele Mueller, Marty Willis, Susie Miller, Mary Alice Schaffner and Linda Snyder were recognized and thanked for their continuing support of this community organization. Pins were presented to all of the current board members for their years of service representing a total of 90 years.

Volunteers were also thanked for over 12,000 hours of service to the hospital in 2015--the equivalent of 6 full-time employees. These 108 women and men supported hospital operations by greeting patients, their families, and visitors; by calling, escorting and transporting patients to procedures, surgery, clinics, and other hospital-based treatments; staffing the Gift Shop, and even sewing repairs or creating patient tray items. New volunteers are always welcomed to offer their time and talents in varied ways that maintain Magruder's recognized excellence as a community hospital.

Following approval of minutes from the 2014 Annual meeting, Treasurer’s Report, correspondence, and reports from Committee Chairpersons and Board Officers, the new slate of officers for the Magruder Hospital Auxiliary Board were installed. They are: President, Sue Johnson; Vice President, Brigid McKale; Treasurer Vanda Wahlers; Secretary, Linda Oman; and Press Reporter, Carol Nelson-Burns.

Outgoing President German and Secretary Virginia Dunwiddie were thanked for their service, and a check in the amount of $10,000 was presented by the Auxiliary to Magruder President and CEO Todd Almendinger. Mr. Almendinger presented a report detailing the state of the hospital and highlighting significant accomplishments during the 2015 year.

The afternoon concluded with a presentation on the musical history of songs and stories from Colonial times through the Civil War, provided by the Heritage Minstrels, Barbara and John Bond.
