Diabetes Prevention Program

Do you have prediabetes? If so, you are not alone. In fact, approximately 88 million Americans or 1 in 3 people have prediabetes. Without lifestyle changes, prediabetes can progress to Type 2 Diabetes leading to long-term damage to your heart, blood vessels and kidneys. The great news is that progression from prediabetes to Type 2 Diabetes is not unavoidable. By eating healthier foods, being more active and maintaining a healthy weight you can help reverse prediabetes.

Now is the time to make preventing Type 2 Diabetes a priority. Magruder Hospital’s Prevent T2 Program, led by the CDC, can help! Work with a trained lifestyle coach and a group of individuals like yourself. You will learn tips to make the lifestyle changes you need to live healthier such as healthy eating, adding physical activity to your routine, stress reduction, problem solving and staying motivated.
Magruder Hospital’s Prevent T2 groups will meet for one year. For the first 6 months meeting weekly, then one to two times per month for the next six months to help foster the healthy lifestyle changes learned. Gather with others who are trying to make healthy changes as well, while encouraging and supporting each other.

We all have our own reasons for getting healthy. Take control of your health using your reasons as a motivator and prevent Type 2 Diabetes.
The next program will start 11/7/2022. It will be a combination of in-person classes as well as virtual classes. RSVP for this program by 10/3/2022. You can find a prediabetes risk test at either CDC’s website or at ADA’s website if you haven’t already been diagnosed with prediabetes and want to know if you are at risk.
